Destinations Overview
The Ultimate Bush to Beach Safari is Maudie Safaris’ grandest cross-country expedition, brilliantly designed to showcase Kenya’s most iconic landscapes in one seamless, continuous journey. We have meticulously paced this itinerary to ensure you spend a minimum of two nights at every location, allowing for deep immersion in nature, authentic relaxation, and zero travel fatigue.
The adventure begins in Nairobi, offering a magical introduction to Africa through an exclusive “urban safari” at a relaxed pace. Here, you will encounter rhinos roaming against a backdrop of city skyscrapers in Nairobi National Park, hand-feed endangered Rothschild giraffes, and visit orphaned baby elephants.
From the city, the route heads south to the legendary Amboseli National Park. Known as the best place in the world to get close to free-ranging elephants, Amboseli offers the ultimate postcard-perfect backdrop: the magnificent, snow-capped peak of Mount Kilimanjaro. From the shadow of the mountain, the journey moves into the immense, 22,000-square-kilometer Tsavo ecosystem, a land of striking extremes. In Tsavo West, you will have ample time to explore a rugged, volcanic wonderland defined by jagged black lava flows and the crystal-clear Mzima Springs. Crossing into Tsavo East, the scenery shifts dramatically to unending, flat plains of red laterite soil, famous for its massive herds of “red elephants” and legendary maneless lions.
The expedition culminates on the spectacular, white-sand shores of the Indian Ocean at Diani Beach or Mombasa. This transit route is the ultimate choice for travelers because it follows a perfect, one-way geographical progression. It entirely eliminates the need for expensive domestic flights or the exhausting, repetitive drive back to Nairobi. Instead, your travel time becomes a masterclass in shifting Kenyan landscapes, allowing you to seamlessly blend an awe-inspiring Big Five wildlife adventure with a tropical beach holiday, making every single mile of your journey count without ever feeling rushed.
Preserving the Eco-system
At Maudie Safaris, conservation is woven into every mile of this cross-country journey. In Nairobi, your visits to the Giraffe Centre and the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust directly fund breeding programs for the endangered Rothschild giraffe, as well as the rescue, rehabilitation, and reintegration of orphaned elephants back into the wild.
As we travel south into the vast Amboseli-Tsavo ecosystem, your journey supports one of the most critical, unfenced wildlife corridors in Africa. The sheer immensity of these parks makes them incredibly challenging to patrol. By booking this overland transit, your park fees provide crucial financial support to the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) and the Tsavo Trust, funding anti-poaching aerial surveillance to protect the region’s famous “Big Tuskers” (elephants with tusks weighing over 100 lbs). Furthermore, we partner exclusively with eco-conscious lodges that prioritize solar power and actively fund community outreach programs, ensuring the Maasai people bordering the parks directly benefit from wildlife tourism.
