Amboseli is famed for its dramatic scenery and its population of free-ranging elephants. It is one of the few places in Africa where you can view immense herds featuring some of the continent’s largest “tuskers” with the snow-capped peak of Kilimanjaro dominating the horizon. The park’s unique ecosystem ranges from the dried-up bed of Lake Amboseli to sulphur springs and lush wetlands that attract prolific birdlife and hippos.
We know that timing is critical for the perfect Amboseli experience. We curate your schedule to maximize the chances of seeing the mountain clear of clouds, typically at dawn and dusk. To enhance your experience, we recommend staying in the private conservancies surrounding the park. This allows you to escape the day-visitor traffic and enjoy exclusive activities like walking safaris and night game drives, while still having easy access to the central swamps.
Preserving the Ecosystem
Amboseli is the site of the world’s longest-running elephant research project. The ecosystem faces challenges from human-wildlife conflict and habitat loss. We partner with camps that support the Amboseli Trust for Elephants and the Big Life Foundation. Your visit contributes to anti-poaching units and compensation schemes for local herders, ensuring that elephants and the Maasai community can continue to co-exist peacefully.
